A tablet and a smartphone on a sofa, both showing a live football match, illustrating how to set up IPTV on Android.

Android is one of the easiest devices to set up for IPTV, because the same process covers three very different screens: your phone, your tablet, and an Android TV or Android TV box in the living room. The steps below follow our own setup, where we send you the Android app and your sign-in — so there is no app to hunt for and no server address to type in from memory.

How our Android setup works

Every UK Fire TV setup starts the same way: you message us, tell us your device, and we send you what that device needs. For Android that means the app for your phone, tablet or Android TV, plus the username and password for your plan or free trial. You install the app, sign in, and watch. The summary version of this process lives on our IPTV installation guide page, and the full list of devices we support is on our devices page.

Before you start

  • Know which Android device you are setting up. A phone and an Android TV use the same sign-in, but the menus look different, and telling us which one you have means the steps we send match your screen.
  • Connect to Wi-Fi first. Mobile data will work, but a first setup over Wi-Fi is faster and avoids burning through a data allowance while channels load.
  • Have your phone handy. Your sign-in details arrive by WhatsApp message, so if you are setting up a tablet or a TV, keep the phone with the message next to you.

Steps: Android phone or tablet

  1. Message us first and tell us you want to watch on Android, and whether it is a phone or a tablet. We will send you the app and your sign-in.
  2. Install the app we sent you. Follow the install steps in the message we sent — if the app comes from outside the Play Store, Android will ask you to allow installs from that source. Allow it only for the app we sent you, from the message we sent you, and nowhere else.
  3. Open the app and sign in with the username and password we provided, typing them carefully. Passwords are case-sensitive, and a single wrong character is the most common reason a first login fails.
  4. Let the content load. The first load can take a minute or two while categories populate. Once it has loaded, browse by category — sports, entertainment, movies and TV — and press play.
  5. Start watching. On a phone, you can also cast to a TV if your TV supports it, but the app itself is the simplest route.

Steps: Android TV or Android TV box

  1. Message us with your Android TV or box model, so we send the right app and steps for it.
  2. Install the app we sent you on the TV, following the steps in our message.
  3. Sign in with the details we provided, using the TV remote. Take your time here — typing a password with a remote is where most errors creep in, so check each character before confirming.
  4. Browse by category and play. On a TV, the app's categories and any programme guide are the fastest way to find something, rather than scrolling one long channel list.

If it will not log in or play

Work through these in order, rather than reinstalling straight away:

  • Retype the login details. Slowly, exactly as sent, with no extra spaces at the start or end.
  • Check the connection. Open a website or another streaming app on the same device. If nothing else works online, the problem is the connection, not the app — restart the router and try again.
  • Clear the app's cache. On Android this is Settings → Apps → the app → Storage → Clear cache. This removes temporary files without removing your login.
  • Restart the device. A full restart, not just sleep, clears most one-off glitches.
  • Reinstall only as a last resort, and only if you still have your login details, because you will need to enter them again.

If you have tried all of these and it still will not work, message us with the error message and what you have already tried — that detail saves a lot of back-and-forth.

One plan, several screens

A useful thing about Android in a household: your phone, your tablet and your Android TV can all be on the same plan, as long as the number of screens watching at the same time stays within your plan's device count. Our plans cover 1, 2 or 3 devices at once, for 1, 3, 6 or 12 months, starting from £12/month — see IPTV subscription prices for every option, and our frequently asked questions page for the common questions. A free trial is available if you want to try the Android setup before choosing a plan.
